Joe's Older Than Dirt
The year 1937 was a memorable year for Louisvillians. Many historical events were witnessed by growing city, such as the opening night for the Louisville Orchestra. War Admiral made history by winning the Kentucky Derby. Tragedy struck with the “Great Flood”.
But perhaps one of the most lasting historical moments was the opening of “Joe’s”. For a man named Joe Keal, 1937 was the year his dream became a reality, when he open a tavern to service the local railway patrons. Built in the backyard of his parent’s home in Lyndon, it was not unusual to see Joe hitching up his horse and buggy to bring waiting passengers from the railroad station to his one room oasis. “Joe’s” quickly became a popular meeting place where all the Lyndon residents came to relax and spin some tales. The original bar that Joe Keal built still stands as a living testament to his success. Over time the rest of the bar has been added to provide Joe’s patrons with a home away from home.
“Joe’s” has survived the decades because of its friendly atmosphere, great service and the smiles of its customers. It has been rumored that Joe himself is still around, watching over the legacy that he created. He has been sighted behind the original bar, with a smile on his face and a twinkle of happiness in his eyes, waiting to welcome his clientele and serve them their favorite drinks. Although the Keal family no longer owns “Joe’s” the current owners, Gary and Janet Gish are still committed to providing top of the line service in an unforgettable atmosphere.
We would like to welcome “Joe’s Older than Dirt” to the growing number of business sponsoring the OKHT and encourage you to stop by and enjoy a pleasant evening in one of the area’s most unique restaurants and taverns. 8131 New LaGrange Road Hours: Mon-Sat 11am-4am Sunday 1:00pm-4am 502-426-2074

Bike Couriers
Thank you for riding. Your bike riding is critical to making our community bicycle-friendly.
How serious are we about cycling? One of our owners has been car free since 1999. Our mission is simple: 1) provide excellent service & goods and, 2) increase the number of bicycles on area streets. Knowing that cyclists need sales and mechanical support distributed throughout the community rather than concentrated in a few big stores, we opened shops on Market St downtown, on Frankfort Ave in Clifton and on Fourth St. south of U of L. We are there to serve you.
We have over 200 new Bianchi, Breezer, Dolan, Jamis, KHS, Marin, Masi, and Xtracycle bicycles on Market St, over 200 on Frankfort Av, and about 2 dozen on Fourth St (our newest & growing shop).
With 7 mechanics, our service turn-around is often within 24 hours and sometimes immediate. We have road, comfort, commuter, kid, triathlon, mountain, cross, single speed and custom built bikes, unicycles, adult tricycles, jerseys, helmets, shoes, gloves, racks, baskets, trailers, etc..
