The 33rd Annual Old Kentucky Home Bicycle Tour, (aka OKHT), is a two-day ride departing from E.P."Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville,Ky. on Saturday, September 11th, with 3mileage routes to historic Bardstown, Ky.
A 50-mile, 72-mile, and a very challenging 102-mile century, which includes the legendary Pottershop Hill ! It is the winner of the League of American Bicyclists Best Century award.
On Sunday, September 12th, there are two routes from Louisville. The 25 mile short route goes out to the Fern Creek Fire Station and back to Sawyer Park. The 50-mile, single-day loop goes out to our FAMOUS " Homemade Cookie Stop" sag stop and joins up with the 2-day riders coming back from Bardstown for the return ride back to Sawyer Park via a gorgeous scenic route.
The Old Kentucky Home Tour is a beautiful bike tour through scenic, rolling hills in rural Kentucky, fully supported with fixed and roving sags.
Price of registration includes Nancy's Bagels and Heine Brothers' Coffee on Saturday morning, and Saturday lunch. Sunday morning breakfast by Chris Cakes, plus ample food and drink--We will have ice tea from Bob Evans at the 12 SAG stops along the way including a variety of sandwich bread from Breadworks. The tour is also famous for our "Homemade Cookie Stop "on Sunday, where sampling the cookies, of all kinds, is an endurance sport in itself.
All riders are invited and encouraged to bring cookies for the cookie stop.
Sunday's ride also features a post-ride Tony Boom Bozz's Pizza party at Sawyer Park.
In Bardstown,we offer a number of activities and entertainment including,Yoga classes under the trees by Baptist Milestone Wellness Center, Carriage Rides around Bardstown sponsored by Byerly Ford and Nissan Dealership, plus free massages from Preble Chiropractic, live entertainment and discounted Bardstown-area tours.
Dinner by Moe's Southwest Grill may be purchased when you register for the ride.
Overnight accommodations include motels and B&Bs. Free gymnasium or tent camping with hot showers are also available at the overnight ride headquarters. Be sure to bring a towel and any other supplies you may need. Your bicycle will be safely stored at the school after the ride and will be available for pickup on Sunday morning. Drop off your bags at the shuttle truck at Sawyer Park on Saturday morning and pick them up at the tour HQ in Bardstown that afternoon.
Shuttle buses run a scheduled route Saturday evening and Sunday morning to and from the ride HQs -to our designated motels.
